About me

Programmer Analyst & Android Developer

Programmer Analyst graduate from INACAP, focused on the intersection of Android, edge AI, and technology for agriculture. I have taken computer vision models from the lab into the field: estimating grape size with a phone camera, offline, in vineyards across Chile's Valparaíso Region.

I am currently an Android & Edge AI Development Intern at ScaleAI / Anomaly, where I build Kotlin applications, implement local inference with ONNX Runtime, and contribute to mobile computer vision solutions.

My edge is not only technical: I understand real usage contexts, I know a Xiaomi Redmi in the field does not behave like a Pixel in the lab, and I design offline-first architectures because vineyards rarely have reliable connectivity.

On my first AI project, I learned that a model trained on controlled images can fail as soon as shadows, dust, and midday light appear. Since then, my rule is simple: observe the real environment before defining the architecture.

Methodology

How I approach a project

I do more than write code. I solve real problems with technical decisions that can be explained, tested, and maintained.

01

I understand the problem before writing code

On the grape project, I spent the first two weeks observing how agronomists manually measure grape size before defining the architecture. I do not design from a desk; I design around the place where the software will actually be used.

02

I design offline-first when the context demands it

Vineyards rarely have reliable connectivity. The app needs to work offline for hours and sync data when the network returns. That changes both the data architecture and the user experience.

03

I measure before optimizing

I use Android Profiler, ONNX Benchmark, and Lighthouse to make decisions from data, not assumptions. I prefer an app that performs reliably on a Xiaomi Redmi over one that only looks good on a lab Pixel.

04

I document for the next developer

Each project includes a technical README, architecture decisions, and diagrams so another developer can understand and maintain it without depending on my memory.
